I've decided that what makes my neighborhood special is that it's a great place to carry things. You see all sorts of people lugging every type of object: grocery sacks, carts piled high with groceries being lifted over potholes, strollers occupied by chubby toddlers, huge laundry bags. The butchers roll up a commandeered grocery store cart stacked with raw legs of lamb and tossed into another container outside the meat market. Ukrainian and Mexican women, built like small refrigerators, carry great bags of raw vegetables. So come to my neighborhood. And don't forget to bring something to carry!
